Any potential buyer interested in purchasing the Chrysler Group from DaimlerChrysler has to account for $16.7 Billion in unfunded health care liabilities according to a report published today online.
Reported in Automotive News, such are the potential (and forecasted) fiscal woes of Detroit's big ".5" automaker that DaimlerChrysler, "might have to pay a buyer several billion dollars just to take the Chrysler group off its hands."
While this is an unlikely scenario, it does highlight Chrysler's troubled position.

Chrysler will be the US version of Rover. You'll be able to acquire the company for beer money and assume the liabilities

I certainly hope not, Jim. Chrysler, faults and all, is a special brand in automotive history.
