Have you lost count yet with the number of BMW model variants? You're forgiven, if you have.
BMW has just introduced the fourth variant to the entry-level 1-Series lineup that's due to make waves on the North American side of the Atlantic next year.
The new BMW 1-Series convertible will take on much the same form of the coupé; most notably the owl-eyed headlamps and pot-belly swoop lines that visually sag the car's midriff.
The weight saving aspects will also be carried over - expect a electronically operated canvas top rather than a retractable hardtop.
CAR magazine reports that an Audi A3 convertible will be on the way to compete for sales. With Ingolstadt in the game, we can probably expect a rival from Stuttgart before long.

I have to agree with you, Gunnar. I'm in BMW overload. At least this latest model will be affordable to many more drivers and should be fun to toss around...it is a BMW after all! I wrote about the new 1 Series as well...http://www.ridestory.com/?q=node/164
