Does anybody really need a large SUV nowadays? I just finished my review of the 2006 Nissan Armada. Taken on its own terms, it's a great vehicle -- nice design, well-sorted chassis, all that stuff. But what are its own terms? Are they valid?

Not for my needs. I took my friend Doselle for a ride -- he said that he could see light bending around the Armada, it was so big. We decided that it was the perfect SUV for a college football coach -- he could carry his defensive line with him, and still have room for a cooler full of gatorade. After a week in the Armada, what I wouldn't give for a 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata.
