The BBC was at pains to dispute Jeremy Clarkson's doomsaying on Sunday by insisting that his television program - Top Gear - will go on with or without Mr. Clarkson.
Top Gear has won an audience of 7 million Britons and countless others through YouTube 'round the world. When its host, Jeremy Clarkson suggested recently that one of the BBC's most successful programs would not return after the end of the spring season, for some it was like suggesting the sun would not rise tomorrow.
But that giant, TV-taxing monolith that puts on the program had this to say through a spokesman:
"Top Gear will come back. A summer special is planned and Top Gear will return in the autumn. We're expecting all three boys to present the programmes."
Whom to believe? Bet on the BBC.
