Eco-meddling. Governments do it all the time. And back in the 1970s, Washington imposed some pretty firm restrictions on emissions that strangled the horsepower output from every marque sold in these United States of America. That said, some car companies persevered to make great cars in spite of heavy handed legislation.
The E23 BMW 733i was one such example.
In the above linked 08:40 segment, I discuss how BMW managed then and how it could manage again in a CAFE controlled tomorrow.

The video was great. I have owned 3 E23's. 84 733i w 5 speed, 85 745i and an 87 735i auto and loved them all. The balance, the look, the interior.
