My buddy Keith messaged me and asked, "Why are rental cars American cars?" I said, "Man, I don't know!" (and I pointed out that yesterday was Q&A day). But I got to thinking, why indeed. And, while I'm not car-renting connoisseur, every rental I've ever had was an American car. I've rented plenty of Tauruses (pictured), Focuses (which I mostly liked) and a Saturn sedan. They all ran fine (well, the Tauruses I had were super, super beaten but did run quietly) and never broke down but, again, never a non-American car. Do any of you have any ideas why rental cars are American cars? Have you ever rented anything but American cars? If you have any answer, please, post and let me know.

Japanese cars are not superior to North American cars. You need to do some research most Jap cars are built in North America which yes makes them Americian. I have owned both types the best is German made engineered to perfection. Jap cars are built with cheap recycled metal and parts

My guess would be that rental companies get the American cars in quantity for cheap.
