Antas B(l)ends History

Antas
This odd-looking coupe was created as a stylistic evolution of Italian cars from the 30's through the 60's, according to its builder and classic-car restorer Faralli & Mazzanti. The Antas is hand-crafted of aluminum, and uses a Maserati V-8 engine with carburetors instead of fuel-injection. Mazzanti says the company is trying to be like Pininfarina or Bertone in the days when customers would "take their cars to the tailor." F&M describes the car's look as "a blend of ferocity and elegance." I prefer to describe it as a concoction of lines, curves, and angles that don't match. If, however, you agree with F&M's perception of history and would like to own one, you can buy it for a mere $443,000. More on the Antas in this Forbes article which, by the way, calls it "a beautiful new Italian car that looks like a beautiful old Italian car". Photo ©Faralli & Mazzanti
