The Vancouver Auto Show doesn't rank high on the international scale but it does at least give the auto media a chance to see some interesting concepts they may only have viewed electronically. One that caught my eye was the Acura RDX, described as a "luxury crossover vehicle," to be launched this month at the New York show. It features a turbocharged 240 hp engine, the unique AWD system featured in the Acura RL, independent front and rear suspension, large Brembo disc brakes, paddle shifters for the 6-speed auto, and (something we west-coasters love) a long moonroof stretching completely over the first and second row seating positions. The RDX was accompanied by a special presentation by designer Dave Marek, which instantly became the highlight of the media scrum as Marek sketched a new design before our very eyes.
