For 2007 lexus is taking the RX 330 and tuning it up a little bit to create the RX350. The biggest difference is a more powerful engine as compared to the RX 330. As always Lexus targeting upscale buyers, aiming this model at the Mercedes M-series SUVs and BMW X5. Some call the Lexus RX series silky and smooth, while some call it numb and unfeeling. No matter what you think about the Lexus RX series it sells very well, last year the RX 330 sold over 100,000 units according to Car and Driver. That's a lot of affluent buyers purchasing one particular SUV.
Horsepower is up 47 from the standard model to 270 in the new RX 350 thanks to displacement increase from 3.3 L to 3.5 L in the V-6 engine. While not staggering, performance is adequate for an SUV with 60 mph coming in 6.8 seconds, which is a full second faster than the RX 330 according to Car and Driver. Put the pedal to the metal and the quarter-mile will flash by 15.4 seconds at 91 mph.
