2006 Honda Civic: Smooth?
Filed in archive on November 28, 2005

On the way to school this morning Abbe and I stopped to admire a new 2006 Honda Civic sedan. I said to Abbe, "Daddy thinks this car is pretty neat." Abbe asked, "The gray one?" (Sigh, the ubiquitous gray...) I said, "Yes." And, get this, Abbe said, "It looks smooth." Ha! It is smooth. So after I dropped her off at school, I went home and configured one on Honda's site... Yowza! $23k for a Civic? That ain't so smooth. I picked the EX and all the fancies (since I'm not really buying the thing, why not deck it out?) but I got to wondering if any of you have picked out the latest Civic in DX trim and what ya'll think of it?

My Honey bought a new 2005 Civic in July, a coupe loaded to the gills and it didn't come anywhere near that price. A Special Edition EX Coupe, with the foglights, moonroof, A/C 6, disc stereo, power windows & locks and a dealer installed leather interior, cost under $18k.
Now, before you start laughing about a Ford guy having a Honda, I told you it's not mine, it's my better half's. I would have bought the Chevy Cobalt for the same money, wiht factory leather and more horsepower.
So I can't see how a Civic would go for the same price as a new Ford Fusion.
